1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Makerfolio (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Description of Service

Makerfolio is a platform that allows indie hackers and builders to connect their payment processors (Stripe, Polar) via read-only API keys to display verified Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) on a public builder profile. The Service includes a private dashboard, public profile page, achievement badges, and an MRR leaderboard.

3. Account Registration

To use Makerfolio, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Be at least 16 years of age

4. API Key Usage & Integrations

When you connect a payment processor integration, you grant Makerfolio permission to access your account using the read-only API key you provide. You agree that:

  • You own or have authorization to use the connected payment processor accounts
  • You will only provide read-only restricted keys — never full-access keys
  • We store API keys encrypted and use them solely to fetch your MRR data
  • You can revoke access at any time by deleting the integration from your dashboard

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent revenue data
  • Attempt to manipulate leaderboard rankings
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically access the Service without permission
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use the Service to infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users

6. Subscription & Billing

Makerfolio offers a free plan and a paid “Scaler” plan. Paid plans are billed monthly. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no refunds are issued for partial months. Downgrading to the free plan will restrict access to paid features.

7. Intellectual Property

The Makerfolio name, logo, software, and content are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of your data and content.

By making your profile public, you grant Makerfolio a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display your public profile data (username, bio, MRR stats) on the Service, including the leaderboard and any promotional materials.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that MRR data will be 100% accurate at all times. Use the Service at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Makerfolio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon deletion, your public profile will be removed and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without prior notice.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
