1. Introduction

Makerfolio (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform at makerfolio.dev.

By using Makerfolio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you disagree, please discontinue use of our services.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address, username, and password (hashed). Optionally, you may provide a display name, bio, and profile picture.

Payment Integration Data

When you connect Stripe or Polar, we store read-only API keys (encrypted at rest) to fetch your MRR data. We do not store full payment details, customer PII from your payment processor, or any data beyond aggregated revenue metrics.

Revenue Data

We fetch and store aggregated MRR figures, subscriber counts, and historical revenue snapshots from connected integrations. This data is used to display your public profile and dashboard.

Usage Data

We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps to maintain service security and performance.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Makerfolio platform
  • Display verified revenue data on your public builder profile
  • Send transactional emails (email verification, password reset, billing receipts)
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Aggregate anonymized statistics about the indie hacker ecosystem

4. Public Profile Data

Your public profile (accessible at makerfolio.dev/[username]) displays information you choose to make public: your username, bio, projects, and MRR data.

You control what is shown on your public profile from the Settings page. You can hide your MRR figures, make your profile private, or delete your account at any time.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in these cases:

  • Service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, email delivery) under strict data processing agreements
  • Legal requirements — when compelled by law, court order, or to protect our rights
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, with advance notice to users

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures: encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted storage for API keys, hashed passwords, and regular security audits.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We strive to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Portability — export your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — opt out of certain processing activities

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

8. Cookies

We use session cookies for authentication and localStorage to persist your UI preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users via email for material changes and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
